El Triunfo sits amongst rugged mountains and luscious vegetation in the south of Tolima. Yakes Paya has been involved in coffee all her life as her father was a producer from whom she learned much. Alongside her husband, Gilberto Socorreño, they have farmed and produced coffee for 15 years. Making the switch to specialty coffee 2 years ago. What keeps Yakes motivated and brings her joy is being recognized and having her coffee consumed by people in other countries. She takes pride in her work.
Currently, both her and her husband manage the farm, and during harvest they hire people for cherry picking. Their constant challenge is to maintain the quality of the farm to keep producing high quality coffee. One main goal is to always improve the general infrastructure, they are currently working on the wet mill right now for instance. So we are sure we can expect their coffees to get better and better over the years.
