Karindundu sits on the southern slopes of Mount Kenya, where rich red soils and crisp nights make some of the most electric coffees on earth. This year we grabbed a tiny peaberry lot — that quirky little mutation where the cherry grows just one seed instead of two. They’re rare (only 5–10% of a harvest), denser, and often pack an extra pop in the cup.
This lot comes from the Mutira Farmers’ Cooperative, a network of small-scale growers in Kirinyaga. Cherries are picked ripe, carefully washed, fermented, and laid out to dry on raised beds — a time-honoured process that keeps Kenya’s reputation sky-high.
We’ve only got a sliver of this peaberry selection. It’s vibrant, complex, and juicy, and when it’s gone, it’s gone.
